Cavaliers continue road trip in Memphis

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to snap their current two-game losing streak as they head to Memphis to take on the 2-5 Grizzlies.

Wednesday night did not give the Cleveland Cavaliers the result they were looking for as they lost their second straight game to the Orlando Magic. Now the Cavs (4-4) will be heading Memphis as they look to get back above .500 against the 2-5 Grizzlies.

In seven games the Grizzlies are averaging 106.9 points while giving up 112.1 points per game. Things may be different if they still had the services of Ja Morant. An ankle injury sidelined Morant back at the end of December and it has obviously played a factor in Memphis’ performance. Morant’s absence will give the depleted Cavaliers a better chance of coming away with a win.

Dillon Brooks is the Grizzlies top score with 16.9 points per game on 38.7% shooting from the field. Jonas Valanciunas leads in rebounding with 11.6 per game while adding 14.7 points. Tyus Jones is the active assist leader for Memphis with 4.7 per game, Morant was averaging 6.3 per game before his injury.

There are two player streaks for the Cavaliers that could continue Thursday. Andre Drummond has eight consecutive double-doubles while Collin Sexton has eclipsed the 20 point mark in eight straight games, both are the longest streaks to start a year in Cavaliers history. If Drummond and Sexton can continue these streaks it should bode well for the Cavaliers and their chances.

The game is scheduled to start at 8:00 P.M.
