Domingo Santana signs in Japan

The former Cleveland Baseball Club outfielder has signed a deal with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.

Domingo Santana is hoping to rebuild his value by heading to Japan. The former Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Seattle Mariners, and Cleveland Baseball Club outfielder has agreed to a deal with the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of Nippon Professional Baseball.

It was not a great year for Domingo Santana during his 24 games stint in Cleveland. Santana struggled mightily at the plate which inevitably led to being designated for assignment. In 84 plate appearances Santana slashed .157/.298/.286/.583 with 3 doubles, 2 home runs, and 12 RBI. Even with how much Cleveland’s outfield struggled at the plate, this was clearly not good enough to warrant more playing time. Perhaps a change of scenery can revitalize someone who was once a power threat in the lineup.
