Kevin Love says Cavs have to make up for lost time

Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love stated that the team is at a disadvantage and that they have to make up for lost time.

Kevin Love met the media Wednesday and was pretty straightforward when it comes to the where the Cleveland Cavaliers stand in regards to some of the other NBA teams. Love stated that the team is at a disadvantage and will have to make up for lost time.

The Cavs have been idle since the NBA season suspended all the way back in February and next season is not expected to start until 2021. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stated that 2021 is when next season will start as they want to play a full 82-game schedule. This puts teams like the Cavs at a disadvantage when it comes to being ready for next season.

Cleveland has some other additional issues to consider when it comes to having make up for lost time and that could have played into what Kevin Love said. The Cavs made a coaching change with JB Bickerstaff taking over head coaching duties. Bickerstaff coached 11 games and led Cleveland to a 5-6 record before the season shut down. The team appeared to playing better and showing a lot more chemistry than the previous 54 games under John Beilein. Seeing how the team continues to play under Bickerstaff will be interesting considering how different things appeared to be.

Of course the involvement of Kevin Love is assuming that the Cavaliers do not trade him this offseason. Love is going to be the subject of trade rumors until he is no longer on the team. It is just the nature of the beast that is the NBA. Whether the Cavs trade him, he leaves in free agency, or he retires, Love being out of Cleveland will be a recurring subject.
