Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Evan Mobley has been named to the 2021-22 NBA All-Rookie first team.

This development seemed to be more of a formality than question throughout the rookie campaign of Evan Mobley. Mobley would finish third in Rookie of the Year voting averaging 15 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 blocks in 69 games.

Evan Mobley should become comfortable with ending up on year end lists as he has proven that he belongs in the NBA.

Guardians – Reds postponed Wednesday

The fourth and final game between the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds will have to wait one more day as Wednesday’s contest was postponed due to weather. The game will be made up on Thursday at 1:10 P.M. as it is a mutual off day for both clubs.

Wednesday’s postponement is the fifth postponed home game of the season for the Guardians, an astonishing number for a team that has played just 13 games at Progressive Field while they have had 21 road affairs.

Cleveland won the first two games of the season series with Cincinnati’s extra-innings win Tuesday giving the Reds their first win of the year. The two wins earlier in the year were enough for the Guardians to retain the Ohio Cup.

This extra day of rest for Cleveland comes at a time when they are experiencing some organizational shuffling. Three of the seven coaches in health and safety protools returned to the club Wednesday. Meanwhile the only player in said protocols, Josh Naylor, could make his return to the lineup Friday.

Josh Naylor could return this weekend

Three of the Guardians coaches have returned from health and safety protocols the one player among the group remains, Josh Naylor. With that being said the team stated that the expectation is for Naylor to return Friday.

Josh Naylor has missed the last four games as the Guardians went 1-3 in that span. Prior to entering health and safety protocols it was the beginning of what could be a breakout season from the 24-year old. Slashing .347/.377/.611 with an OPS just a shade under 1.000 (.988) and a 190 WRC+, Naylor has been a force through his first 20 games. Naylor has five home runs, four doubles, and 22 runs driven so far this season and his presence upon his return to the lineup should be immediately felt as the Guardians have missed him dearly during his absence.

Guardians get three back from COVID protocols

The Cleveland Guardians will have three members of their coaching staff return from COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Terry Francona, DeMarlo Hale, and Justin Toole will be rejoining the team while the only player in COVID-19 protocols, Josh Naylor, will remain away from the team.

After Francona initially entered health and safety protocols it was Hale who was slated to temporarily take the helm. Unfortunately Hale followed Francona with the team being forced to postpone a game and turn to Carl Willis to hold down the fort for the time being. The Guardians would go 1-3 during the four game stretch without a large portion of their coaching staff.

Cleveland will look to get back on track Wednesday (weather permitting) in their final matchup with the Cincinnati Reds.

As expected, the Cleveland Cavaliers will hold the 14th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. While the Cavs had a very small chance to improve their spot 0.5% for first overall, 2.4% for top four), this was the most likely scenario. Cleveland has held the third, fifth (twice), and eighth pick in the previous four drafts.

The Orlando Magic ended up with the first overall selection with Oklahoma City, Houston, and Sacramento rounding out the top four. The NBA Draft will take place June 23, 2022.

Anderson Varejao was the Cavaliers representative at the NBA Draft Lottery which took place Tuesday night. Previous representatives include Nick Gilbert and Machine Gun Kelly.
