Cody Allen signs with Cubs on minor league deal
Former Cleveland Baseball Club closer and franchise saves leader Cody Allen has signed with the Chicago Cubs on a minor league deal.
Jason Kipnis might have another former teammate join him in Chicago. Cody Allen has agreed to a minor league deal with the Cubs.
Cody Allen saved 149 games while in Cleveland and is the franchise record holder. Allen spent 7 years with the club and made 456 appearances compiling a 2.98 ERA and 1.189 WHIP in a variety of roles.
After leaving the team following the 2018 season, Allen had a rough year with the Angels. A bloated 6.26 ERA and 1.913 WHIP and only saving 4 games led to his departure midseason. Allen would sign minor league deals with the Twins in 2019 and Rangers in 2020 without making an appearance for either club.
