Cleveland: Rosario and Gimenez picture taking shape

The Cleveland Baseball Club is getting a better idea on how they will deploy their recently acquired players.

When the Cleveland Baseball Club acquired shortstops Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez this past offseason there some questions in regards to who will play where and when. A better idea of how that will happen appears to be taking shape during Spring Training according to reports. Gimenez appears to be nearing in on the shortstop job while Rosario is starting to field fly balls in center field.

This is quite the change from before Spring Training started. Rosario seemed to be initially the starting shortstop while Gimenez could start the season in Triple-A. With the Triple-A season being delayed, this sort of put Cleveland in a bad spot. Now they had to figure out if they want him to do nothing while waiting for the season to start or have in on the major league roster. It appears that Cleveland may be deciding to do the latter.

The big question is whether or not Rosario is able to play outside of the infield. Rosario has only played all of three innings in the outfield so that is a huge question mark. There is the possibility that the team could deploy him in a super-utility or super-sub role, but again there is questions about whether or not he can perform in that manner.

There is still a ways to go before anything is decided, but it worth noting which ways are trending for the Cleveland Baseball Club.
