Cleveland bounces back to top White Sox 7-1

The Cleveland Baseball Club defeated the Chicago White Sox thanks to a six-run 4th inning and an impressive performance from Zach Plesac.

Cleveland really needed to bounce back from their disappointing performance Friday night, they did just that. Pounding out 10 hits and scoring 7 runs to take down the White Sox in Chicago.

A six-run 4th inning put the game away for Cleveland. Cesar Hernandez and Francisco Lindor would both score on passed balls to get the scoring started. Franmil Reyes hit an absolute bomb to drive in Carlos Santana to give Cleveland a four-run lead.

Jordan Luplow would hit a two-run homer of his own for his first hit of the season, Domingo Santana would score on the play to stretch Cleveland’s lead to 6.

Speaking of Domingo Santana, he also hit his first home run of the season to score Cleveland’s final run.

The offense is great to see, but that’s only half of the story. Zach Plesac had another outstanding performance for Cleveland. Plesac held Chicago scoreless for 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 7 along the way. The second-year pitcher kept Cleveland in the game while their offense was struggling early in the game.

Adam Cimber would relieve Plesac in the 7th and struck out two batters.

The 8th inning belonged to Cam Hill and Yoan Moncada hit a solo home run for Chicago’s only run of the day. Hilll allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in his only inning of work.

Phil Maton worked the 9th, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 to end the game and secure the win for Cleveland.

The third and final game of the series will be on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at 7:00 P.M. as Cleveland looks to win their second straight game against Chicago.
