Triston McKenzie starts for Cleveland Wednesday

Triston McKenzie will make his third start for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they look to win their second straight game in Kansas City.

The Cleveland Baseball Club is looking to win their series in Kansas City and they will send 23-year old right hander Triston McKenzie to the mound. McKenzie will be making his third start for Cleveland after being called up last month.

Through his first two starts Triston McKenzie has struck out 13 batters in 10 innings leading to a 2.70 ERA and 0.900 WHIP. McKenzie has been as good as advertised and a continuation of his success is not out of the question. Although McKenzie will have to be careful against a Royals team which can present problems for even the best of pitchers.

The Royals will start Jakob Junis and Cleveland has been successful against him in the past. Francisco Lindor is an impressive 16-32 with 4 home runs, 3 doubles, and 1 triple against Junis. Carlos Santana is also hitting .500 against Junis, going 7-14. with a double. Tyler Naquin has gone 7-17 with a home run while driving in 5 runs. Jose Ramirez has 8 hits in 29 at-bats including 2 doubles and a homer.

It is worth mentioning that there are Cleveland batters who have not been successful against Jakob Junis. Oscar Mercado is 2-15 with 4 strikeouts. Roberto Perez does have a double, but is 1-9 otherwise and has struck out 3 times. Cesar Hernandez has only faced Junis twice but is hitless in both at-bats.

Wednesday’s game is scheduled to start at 8:05 P.M.
