Triston McKenzie optioned to Columbus

The 23-year old pitcher is being optioned to Triple-A.

It has not been an easy go for Triston McKenzie this season and as a result the Cleveland Baseball Club is optioning the young pitcher to Triple-A Columbus.

The most recent outing for McKenzie was Friday’s 10-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins. McKenzie gave up six runs on two hits and five walks in just 3.1 innings.

Walks have been a recurring issue for Triston McKenzie. In fact, he has only pitched five innings twice this season and walks are usually the reason why. The walks issued by McKenzie result in a high pitch count in addition to runs coming across to score. While there are flashes time to time of a potential promising career, it would be best for McKenzie to sort out his control issues before returning to the major leagues.
