Odds for Cleveland Baseball Club’s new name

Betting odds for the new name for the baseball team based in Cleveland have been released and some are better than others. Betonline has released betting odds for the new name for the Cleveland Baseball Club. Some are find and others not so much. https://twitter.com/RuiterWrongFAN/status/1280173249213726721?s=20 The leader is Spiders and overall that name has gotten a lukewarm response at best. Anthony Castrovince put out an excellent article detailing the history of the name this past weekend, but overall it is not that exciting. Naps seems like a throwaway suggestion and only appears due to it being a former name when Nap Lajoie played in Cleveland over 100 years ago. Lajoie was a great player, but the name Naps brings little to the table. Guardians is a name that is ...

Terry Francona in favor of changing team name

Cleveland baseball manager Terry Francona is in favor of the team changing the name and said "It's time to move forward". The name of the Cleveland's baseball team will be a topic of intense debate until a new name is chosen. Cleveland's manager Terry Francona stated Sunday that he is in favor of a name change. https://twitter.com/twithersAP/status/1279808258702807040?s=20 https://twitter.com/twithersAP/status/1279808513057923077?s=20 This is an important step in regards to renaming and rebranding the team. The fact that Terry Francona is supporting the idea of a new name should end any discussions about not changing the name. Many names will be discussed as time moves on. From Guardians, Tribe, Spiders, and even a brief discussion about not changing anything at all. ...

Cleveland should not choose Tribe as their new name

A popular suggestion to replace the name of the Cleveland baseball team is Tribe but it is not necessarily the best option. Since Cleveland made the announcement that they would be reviewing their team name there has been some suggestions in regards to a new team name. Some are in favor of names like Guardians or Spiders, while others have gravitated to a name that is similar to their current moniker. Tribe. While Tribe does keep some similarities between the current name and a potential new era, there are issues. The name is sort of a sidestep from their current name, but some negative aspects will still be present. Fans will still show up wearing feathers or other Native American related items. There will be some who embarrassingly show up in redface. Others will still bring the ...

MLB is failing when it comes to testing and safety

MLB is not having the best time with their COVID-19 testing process and some teams have not received all of the proper safety gear. When the initial testing numbers came out MLB seemed to be in decent shape. The percentage of players was not high and it appeared that this was a situation that could be relatively controlled. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/1279154344991080449?s=20 The problem is that not all the test results had come in at the time of this tweet from ESPN's Buster Olney. https://twitter.com/extrabaggs/status/1279559162054062080?s=20 The San Francisco Giants had not even completed their testing when the numbers were reported. It seems like MLB was trying to get out ahead with an initial low number to make things look better than what they really ...

Delino DeShields tests positive for COVID-19

Cleveland outfielder Delino DeShields has tested positive for COVID-19. Indians president Chris Antonetti made the announcement Friday. https://twitter.com/MandyBell02/status/1279069480560275464?s=20 DeShields is currently the only player absent from the team as they reconvened at Progressive Field in Cleveland. DeShields will have to test negative twice before he can rejoin the team. Delino DeShields was acquired with Emmanuel Clase in the trade that sent Corey Kluber to Texas this past offseason. Clase will miss all of 2020 due to a PED suspension. DeShields is one of many outfielders that will complete for playing time this season. Cleveland has too many outfielders for not enough spots. DeShields was a perfect candidate to take on the extra-innings runner on second ro...

Rob Manfred never intended on more than 60 games

Well chalk this up as the least surprising news ever. Rob Manfred stated that that MLB was never going to play more than 60 games. (insert shocked face here). Manfred was on the Dan Patrick Show and said as much. https://twitter.com/AM570LASports/status/1278379359078764544?s=20 Rob Manfred used COVID-19 as the reason further stating that the "60 games is the outside of the envelope given the realities of the virus". Yes the virus is a real concern and it is not going away anytime soon, but it seems like it is being used as a reason for the terrible negotiations on their part. The offers from the owners side of the bargaining table seemed to be different, but in reality were the same turd in a new box. Using the virus seems like a bit of cop out for a side that absolutely zer...
