John Beilein to remain Cavs head coach

After some speculation about his job status, John Beilein will remain in place as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's been a new filled day for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Some roster transactions, an update on a player's injury and the confirmation that John Beilein will remain with the team. John Beilein claims to have made a mistake when reviewing film with team. The usage of the word "thugs" was the term in question. This prompted general manager Koby Altman to travel to meet the Beilein and the team. Altman was on a scouting trip in the south. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1215333187423014912?s=20 Beilein apologized to everyone involved and the team is moving forward with him as their head coach. https://twitter.com/ChrisFedor/status/1215332056705703...

John Beilien calls Cavs players thugs, meant slugs

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach John Beilein uses the word thugs in a film session and claims he meant to use the word slugs instead. We have a John Beilein problem. This time isn’t about the performance of the team. It’s not about a disconnect between veteran players and including youth movement of the franchise. This is about Beilein “inadvertently” calling players thugs.  John Beilein apparently said that they were no longer playing “like a bunch of thugs” during a film session. This led to two different reactions from players. Stunned and distributed are the two words being described. Beilein claims he was usage of the word slugs was to praise better effort in a specific part of the game. Beilein did not know he said thugs, he claims he meant to say slugs. Members of the ...

Success for Cavaliers depends on several factors

Any success the Cleveland Cavaliers experience in the 2019-2020 season will be entirely dependent on a few, but important factors. There is no getting around it. The 2018-2019 season for the Cleveland Cavaliers was a disaster. With injures, trades and coach turnover, the team was not going to be successful. Hopefully, there will be enough change in and things will improve for the wine and gold in 2019-2020. Kevin Love's status on the roster This is no beating around the bush here. The future of Kevin Love with the Cleveland Cavaliers has been in question since he signed his contract extension prior to last season. Most predicted a Blake Griffin-esque trade to another team, instead he remained on the team during the season and through the summer. Kevin Love's presence on the ros...

Collin Sexton ready for breakout season?

With stabilty and a roster that is not expected to see a major overhaul, Collin Sexton is a breakout candidate in year two. Circumstances beyond his control. That is the theme for Collin Sexton during his rookie year in Cleveland. The Cavaliers were as unstable as unstable gets. The firing of Tyronn Lue, Larry Drew's initial refusal to accept the interim head coach position, injuries to key players and trades of others all played factors in Sexton's rookie campaign. Collin Sexton came off the bench to start the year as George Hill was still the starter. Hill was eventually traded clearing the way for Sexton. The problem was the team had already experienced an injury that derailed any chance of not being a bottom feeder. Kevin Love injured his foot four games into the season and wit...

Cleveland Cavaliers hire John Beilein

The Cleveland Cavaliers have found their new head coach, John Beilein. Beilein spent the past 12 seasons coaching at the University of Michigan. In a move that surprised many, the Cleveland Cavaliers hired John Beilein to be the next head coach. Beilein was not mentioned as candidate at any point throughout the coaching search. https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1127917268837523456 As Adrian Wojnarowski mentions it is a five-year deal for Beilein. The length of the deal and the decision to level Michigan is a bit curious. Beilein is 66 years old and if he lasts the duration of contract he will be 71 at its conclusion. The only knock against the decision to hire Beilein is age. Outside of his age this is a fantastic hire. John Beilein has been one of the best coaches in col...
