Shane Bieber: Strikeout Machine

Cleveland Baseball Club pitcher Shane Bieber continues to shut down oppposing offenses while racking up an absurd amount of strikeouts.

Shane Bieber took the mound against the Detroit Tigers Saturday night and he continue his absolutely dominant run. Bieber shut them down as he continues to build his case as one of the best pitchers in baseball.

This was Bieber’s third start with 10 ore more strikeouts without allowing a run.

The only two games that Bieber did not strike out 10 or more were the only games in which he allowed a run. Even when Bieber allowed a run (or runs), Cleveland still won the game.

Bieber struck out 11 Tigers batters as he ran his season total to 54, the third-highest through five starts since 1969 and the most since Pedro Martinez in 2001. Bieber leads all of baseball all with 54 strikeouts, followed by Sonny Gray (45) and Aaron Nola (37).

For a player to tied with someone like Pedro Martinez is impressive. Pedro was one of, if not the best pitcher during his time. Bieber has definitely staked a claim to be in the conversation as one of the best pitchers in the game currently. As long as Bieber can continue to pitch this effectively and rack up the strikeouts he may in fact take that title as his own.
