Reyes, Plesac lead Cleveland to 4-1 win over Detroit

The dynamic duo led the Cleveland Baseball Club to a decisive 4-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Sooner or later Franmil Reyes was going to break out for the Cleveland Baseball Club. Well, it looks that is happening right his moment as Cleveland’s designated hitter came up to the plate in the 1st inning and turned a one-run lead into a three-run lead with a home run off of Derek Holland. This was Reyes’ second home run of the season, the first also came off the Tigers back in Detroit last week.

Reyes was not done as he homered yet again, this time his victim was Michael Fulmer. This gave Cleveland a secure 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 6th.

With Reyes handling the offensive duties, Cleveland got a dominant start from Zach Plesac on the mound. Plesac struck out 6 Tigers batters over 7 innings and allowed only 3 hits on the night. The 24-year old pitcher looked like one of the better pitchers in baseball Friday night and was able to get some revenge on the team that handed him a loss last week.

Emmanuel Clase would come on in the 9th for his first save in a Cleveland uniform after Bryan Shaw gave up a run to Detroit via a Wilson Ramos solo home run. Clase struck out two of the three batters he faced to end the game.

Cleveland and Detroit are back in action Saturday for Game 2 which is scheduled for 6:10 P.M.
