The Cincinnati Reds are just the latest team to reach out and express interest in acquiring Francisco Lindor from the Cleveland Indians.
As long as Francisco Lindor is still on the Indians, teams will continue to reach out and see if the can acquire him. The Cincinnati Reds are just the latest team to do so.
As Mark Feinsand notes, Cincinnati has been aggressive in the past on the trade market. Two of the names listed here were both on the Indians at some point last season. Trevor Bauer and Yasiel Puig (and others) were traded for each other. There is some familiarity between the Indians and Reds. There was a lot of trade discussions prior to last season and even during last season, eventually culminating in that mid-season trade.
Players such as Nick Senzel and Jonathan India are intriguing. Senzel is already at the big league level and looks like the real deal. Jonathan India is much further away, but is a highly touted prospect. It would take more than just that to get a deal done however. Cleveland is still in a position where they don’t need to necessarily trade Lindor. Just exploring all offers and avenues to improve their team over the long haul. Making a deal sending those two (and others) from the Reds point of view is bold. It would show that they truly believe that they can realistically win it all in either 2020 or 2021. That is because they may not be able to re-sign Francisco Lindor after his contract is up.
How far these trade talks go will depend on just how interested the Reds are. Sure, every team wants a player like Francisco Lindor. It is just that not every team is in a position to give up what is required to get him. Will Cincinnati pay the high price that is required to get Francisco Lindor? Only time will tell.
