Nolan Jones to major-league camp

The Cleveland Indians have brought third baseman and their top prospect Nolan Jones to major-league camp as a non-roster invite.

Now this is something to get excited about. The Cleveland Indians have brought top prospect Nolan Jones to their major-league camp with a non-roster invite.

Jones has been rehabbing since October when he had surgery on his thumb. Cleveland will give him a look with their other big leaguers as he has rehabbed faster than anticipated.

Nolan Jones has a .279/.404/.448/.852 slash line in four seasons across all leagues. The most recent being his stint in the Arizona Fall League. Jones slashed .200/.294/.433.727 in 15 games with 2 doubles and 4 home runs.

Barring injury, trades, or an absolutely outstanding performance in Arizona, it is unlikely he makes the Major League roster out of Spring Training. Nolan Jones has only limited experience at the AA level (49 games). Cleveland will want their third base prospect to get a bit more seasoning before giving him “The Call”.

Jones appears destined to be a September call-up for the Tribe. That is unless the team finds itself in a situation desperate for offense or a trade/injury occurs. There is not really a reason to rush their young third baseman at this moment in time.
