Monsters top Senators 4-0

The Cleveland Monsters decisively defeated the Belleville Senators 4-0 in their first of back-to-back games Friday night.

There is nothing like starting off a road trip with a win, especially when the back-to-back-to-back games are on the schedule. That is just what the Cleveland Monsters did Friday night when they took on the Belleville Senators.

The Monsters had three power play chances, but were not able to convert when they held the advantage on the ice. Belleville had four player play opportunities, going 0-4.

Jean-Francois Berube started in net for Cleveland and it was a spectacular performance. Berube saved all 31 shots from Belleville, holding the Senators scoreless. This was an improvement upon last time out when Berube allowed four goals on the same amount of shots against Syracuse last weekend.

Brendan Gaunce, Billy Sweezey, Brett Gallant, and Tyler Sikura all scored their first goals of the season. Assisting on the Monsters goals were Gavin Bayreuther (3), Tyler Angle (4, 5), Liam Foudy (1), and Adam Helewka (2).

As things stand currently Cleveland has four points on the season which places them thing Utica Comets, who also have four points but are yet to lose a game. The Monsters will take on the Senators Saturday night as they look to stay towards the top of the AHL North Division.
