Monsters take on Chicago Wolves

The Cleveland Monsters begin a two game series Saturday with the AHL Central Division leading Chicago Wolves.

This weekend could be setting the stage for revenge as far as the Chicago Wolves are concerned. The last time Chicago and the Monsters met was back in early March with Cleveland taking both games. Cleveland will be looking to continue their winning ways against the AHL Central Division leader.

Cleveland will be looking to get back in the win column after losing two straight games to the Grand Rapids Griffins on the road.

The Monsters come in with 23 points on the year with a 11-7-2 record and going 7-3 over their last 10. Meanwhile, Chicago has 32 points with a 15-4-0-1 record and a 7-2-0-1 mark over that same timeframe. Interestingly enough both teams have allowed almost the same amount of goals on the season, 55 for Cleveland and 58 for Chicago. The difference is goals scored which Chicago hold an 89-73 advantage in that area.

Phil Tomasino is the Wolves active points leader on the year with 20. Tomasino is tied for the team lead in assists with 13 and second among active players with 7 goals. Chicago’s active goals scored leader is David Cotton with 8, who also has 4 assists on the year.

The Wolves have used six different goalies with varying success on the year. As a group they are allowing 2.64 goals per game on a 0.918 save percentage.

The Monsters and Wolves will take the ice with puck drop scheduled for 4:00 P.M. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
