The Cleveland Monsters look to continue their hot streak with a fourth straight win over the Rochester Americans and sixth overall.
The Cleveland Monsters have been having a good time when squaring off with the Rochester Americans this season. Cleveland has won three of four matchups and the scores have not been particularly close. The Monsters own a 19-6 goal advantage against Rochester in their last three matchups with the Americans 7-3 win at the beginning of the season being a standout.
The last two games for the Monsters were a 9-2 thrashing of Rochester and a 5-3 win that was sealed with a late empty net goal. There is the possibility that pendulum swings back favoring Rochester in their second to last matchup of the season. If there is a team that could get the advantage of a rebound game it is certainly Rochester.
Cleveland comes into this game winners of 10 of their last 12 games dating back to late February. These recent performances have propelled the Monsters to second in the AHL Central Division. Cleveland has 21 points in 16 games this season with a 10-5-1 record. There are two teams in the division with more points (Iowa, Texas), but both have played more games than Cleveland. As the season progresses these numbers will even out and things will be a little less awkward in the standings.
