The Cleveland Monsters take on the Texas Stars in their final game of a three game series after trading wins and losses in the previous games.
It was a 3-1 win for the Cleveland Monsters on Thursday as they kicked off their series with the Texas Stars with a victory. Texas got some revenge on Saturday as they managed to come back from a three goal deficit to hand Cleveland a 4-3 loss. Now both teams will face off for the third time in four days as the Monsters close out their home stand.
The perfect way to describe the Monsters performance over the last two games is like a pendulum swing. There are moments that they look like the better team on the ice and then everything flips with Texas looking like the superior squad. That was exactly the case of the span of two games as Cleveland once held 6-1 goal advantage over the span of 4 periods. Texas closed that gap Saturday night with their four goal performance, making it a one goal differential at 6-5. If the pendulum swings back in Cleveland’s favor it could result in a much needed win for the Monsters.
Heading into Sunday’s game the Monsters are in 4th place in the AHL Central division with 11 points and a 5-5-1 record. Meanwhile Texas is 3rd with 20 points and a 9-5-2 record. While Cleveland is in 4th place they have the fewest points in the division. Rockford has 13 points and Iowa has 12, but both have played more games than the Monsters, 17 and 16 respectively.
