Cleveland Cavaliers guards Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson each hit individual milestones in the Friday’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 110-108 Friday. While the team lost, Collin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson each hit some personal milestones.
First off Collin Sexton continues to extend his Cavaliers rookie record of three-pointers made in a season. After Friday’s loss Sexton now has 101 on the season. While Sexton had already been over 1,000 points on the season, he is now the 26th player to make 100 three-pointers and score 1,000 points as a rookie. Collin Sexton is averaging 16.1 points per game and making 41.2 percent of this three-pointers this season.
Jordan Clarkson hit some milestones of his own Friday.
Jordan Clarkson is now the Cavaliers single season record holder for points off the bench. The team record was previously held by Campy Russell, who accomplished the feat in the 1975-76 season. After Friday’s game Clarkson now has 1,221 points on the year, all of which have come off the bench. Russell scored 1,232 points in 1975-76, apparently 22 came as a starter. Russell also scored this many points in 82 games, Clarkson still has more time build upon his team record. Clarkson has played in 72 games this season and has nine more games to score more points off the bench.
Additionally Jordan Clarkson now has 1,000 career assists. Clarkson is currently averaging 2.3 assists per game. While this is the lowest mark of his career, Clarkson is being utilized for his scoring and not his passing. There is also the fact that Clarkson has played with a talent starved Cavaliers team all season and there have not been many opportunities to accumulate assists.
At this point in a lost season for the Cavaliers it is all about personal milestones. The team is not playing for anything meaningful and it will be interesting to see what will be accomplished over the final nine games.
