Mike Soroka tears achilles, out for season

Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Soroka left Monday’s game against the New York Mets with a torn achilles and is out for the season.

The Atlanta Braves got some bad news after their loss Monday to the New York Mets. Mike Soroka who left the game with an injury will be out for the year with a torn right achilles.

The injury looked bad from the start. Soroka was going to cover first base on a ground ball that was fielded by Freddie Freeman to potentially get a double play and collapsed before he could get far from the mound.

Atlanta is now without Mike Soroka and Cole Hamels due to injury. Felix Hernandez opted out of the 2020 season. Finally, Mike Foltynewicz was demoted because due to poor performance. The Braves are going to have put together something resembling a rotation in order to compete for the NL East title this year. A task that just got a bit more difficult.
