Mike Clevinger throws first bullpen since surgery

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger has thrown his first bullpen session since having surgery for a menisus injury.

Just how much of a freak is Mike Clevinger? Clevinger has already resumed throwing after having surgery for a meniscus injury in mid-February. Now Clevinger is throwing bullpen sessions. Simply put, the man is unstoppable.

Mike Clevinger looks pretty comfortable on the mound. It appears that only minimal time will be missed and that is huge. The Indians do have plenty of pitching depth, but they still need their best players in order to win games.

It will be important for the Tribe to cautious with Clevinger in his recovery process. Yes, it is very encouraging to see him come back in a freakishly fast manner. It is almost superhero like. The fact that Clevinger is throwing bullpen sessions only a few weeks after surgery is nothing short of amazing. What cannot happen is a setback of any kind. While the aggressive return is fantastic, it is important to be cautious and maintain a realistic return date.

The early season schedule for the Indians does not appear to be all that difficult. Seven of their first 10 games are against the Detroit Tigers. They should be able to make it through that period without Mike Clevinger. After that is when realistic return dates should begin to be discussed.
