Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger has been working his way back from a meniscus injury and is now at 100% intensity.
One positive that has come with the delay in the 2020 baseball season is Mike Clevinger has been given ample time to recover from his meniscus injury. Clevinger underwent surgery and was throwing a bullpen session soon afterwards.
While talking with MLB.com’s Mandy Bell, Mike Clevinger said that he is back to 100% intensity. This is an important step in the recovery process and when the season finally does start Clevinger should be full go.
The concern when Clevinger initially suffered the injury is that he would miss the beginning of the season. An early return provided some hope that any time missed would be minimal. Clevinger aimed to return earlier than initially expected, exactly like he did last season with his back injury. The way things were heading, it appeared that he was on track for an early return. Instead of missing almost a month, Clevinger may have only missed 2-3 starts.
Now that time is no longer an issue, Mike Clevinger can make sure he is 100% healthy for when the season starts. There is no reason to hurry back and rush things since there are no games to play. Clevinger can balance intensity with caution in order to ensure he is ready to pitch this season. If there is a season.
