The New York Mets have requested permission to speak with the Cleveland Baseball Club general manager for their president of baseball operations position.
Mike Chernoff to the Mets? It could certainly happen. The New York Mets have requested permission to speak with Chernoff as they are looking to fill their vacant President of Baseball Operations position.
Mike Chernoff is from the area and his father is the Vice President of programing for WFAN in New York. A return back to the New York area is not out of the question as the Mets can offer Chernoff some assets and resources that he does not have in Cleveland.
As Ken Rosenthal mentions above, there is also the possibility that the Mets could trade for Francisco Lindor. Considering the new owner, the immediate desire to win, and their players viable to trade, it could lead to Lindor landing in Queens. Chernoff may be able to find a new job with the Mets and bring the dynamic shortstop with him shortly after via trade.
