The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned the 24-year old goaltender to the Cleveland Monsters.
A familiar face has returned to the Cleveland Monsters. Matiss Kivlenieks has been assigned to the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday. Columbus recalled goaltender Cam Johnson to the taxi squad.
Matiss Kivlenieks has been one of the regular goaltenders for the Monsters since 2017-18, his first season with the club. Kivleneiks has a career 0.892 save percentage in 77 games played with Cleveland. The 24-year old goaltender made his NHL debut last season with the Blue Jackets and played fairly well. In 6 games Kivlenieks allowed 2.95 goals per game with a 0.898 save percentage, ending up with a record of 1-1-2.
