Kevin Stefanski to call plays for Browns

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced Friday that he will be handling the offensive playcalling duties this season.

One of the more annoying storylines of the offseason has come to a conclusion. Kevin Stefanski will be making the offensive play calls this season.

The discussion was always about whether it would be Kevin Stefanski or offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt calling plays. Stefanski waited until the Friday before Week 1 to make the public announcement. This must have been some sort of ploy to try and gain an advantage, but the reality is there is very little to gain by doing this.

What this comes down to is an organization that doesn’t realize who they are. The Cleveland Browns are notorious for making the wrong move and believing they are gaining competitive advantages when doing something has little to no impact. This is a franchise who is mistake prone and the perception of the team is not positive. Delaying the announcement and prolonging the speculation of who will call plays is just another example of the Cleveland Browns not being able to get out of their own way.
