Karl Joseph returns to Raiders

The veteran safety is returning to the franchise where his career began.

It was only a one year experiment for Karl Joseph in Cleveland as the safety is heading back to the Raiders. The Browns did not seem likely to bring back Joseph after the season.

When the Browns originally signed Karl Joseph there were a couple things worth taking into consideration. It was Joseph’s inconsistent play, being a liability in pass coverage, and overall health. Joseph register 67 total tackles, 2 fumble recoveries 1 forced fumble, and 1 interception in 14 games with the Browns. Opposing quarterbacks completed 22 of 36 passes for 264 yards and 7 touchdowns when throwing in Joseph’s direction last season.

At the end of the day the experiment with Karl Joseph in Cleveland was worth the risk. The Browns needed some help in the secondary and decided to take a flier on someone looking for a fresh start. It didn’t work, but that is what flier signings are for after all.
