The Cleveland Browns are reportedly looking for a fourth-round pick.
It is no surprise that the Cleveland Browns are looking to trade running back Kareem Hunt. The team is currently 2-5 with this year quickly becoming a lost season. Trading players in an attempt to recoup some value is the right way to operate. It is being reported that they are currently seeking a fourth-round pick for the 27-year old ballcarrier.
The problem for Cleveland is that teams may not be willing to give up a fourth-rounder for Kareem Hunt. Currently Hunt is having his worst non-suspension shortened season of his career. Hunt’s 37.6 rushing and 12.4 receiving yards per game is not necessarily impressive to potential landing spots. This is after a slight uptick in playing time, appearing in 48% of offensive snaps compared to 44% last season. Considering this in addition to a trade request earlier this year, Cleveland is not in the driver’s seat. One aspect that does benefit them is the public knowledge of what they want to begin their very imminent trade talks.
The reality is that the Browns need to take anything they can get in exchange for Kareem Hunt. This is not a team that is going to suddenly put it all together once Deshaun Watson returns and make a playoff run. Additionally, it is highly unlikely that Hunt will receive a contract in free agency that will result in Cleveland getting a comp pick. Part ways, say thanks for your time, and move on.
