Jose Ramirez, Babe Ruth, and the Detroit Tigers

Cleveland Baseball Club third baseman Jose Ramirez was on fire against the Detroit Tigers and accomplished something that hasn’t been done since Babe Ruth in 1933.

Jose Ramirez and Babe Ruth in the same sentence? Yes, it is true. Ramirez had himself a series against the Tigers this past weekend and accomplished something that hasn’t been done against Detroit since 1933. The last person to finish a series against the Tigers with 9 hits, 4 home runs, and 10 RBI was Babe Ruth.

Jose Ramirez is in some special company with that type of performance. First off because it is Babe Ruth, one of the greatest players of all-time. Secondly because it was something that has not been accomplished in 87 years. Even if it is a selective statistic, the fact it has not been repeated even once since 1933 is impressive.

This isn’t the first time that Jose Ramirez has been in the same sentence as Babe Ruth though. Just a little over two years ago Ramirez and Francisco Lindor were mentioned along with Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

Ramirez would finish the 2018 season with 81 extra-base hits and Lindor would have 82.
