Jason Peters drawing interest from Browns

Free agent left tackle Jason Peters has been receiving interest from several teams. The Cleveland Browns are reportedly one of them.

There was a time where Jason Peters made a ton of sense for the Cleveland Browns. This was before the draft when no one was quite sure what the Browns would do. All options were on the table and if they didn’t select Jedrick Wills Jr. 10th overall Peters would make sense. Once Cleveland drafted Wills, any possibility of Peters ending up in Cleveland appeared to have ended. According to reports, that is not the case.

This seems like an old report making the rounds again. Cleveland was a team that reportedly had interest prior to the draft, but they no longer have a vacant starting spot on the offensive line. More than one outlet has reported something similar as ProFootballTalk has the Cleveland Browns as one of the teams showing interest in Peters.. This news coming out really seems focused on Peters being a free agent and not necessarily about the Browns rumored interest.

Cleveland’s offensive line is in much better shape now than before the draft. The Browns signed Jack Conklin as their right tackle. Cleveland drafted Jedrick Wills Jr. Somehow Chris Hubbard is still on the roster after he reworked his contract. Not only is there not a starting spot available, but the backup tackle position is also filled. Unless a player suffers an injury or players are struggling to perform, Jason Peters to the Browns does not make sense at this time.
