Jason Kipnis leads Indians offense over Rangers

Cleveland second baseman Jason Kipnis hit two homers and drove in four runs in the Indians 10-4 victory over the Texas Rangers.

Jason Kipnis only had two hits Wednesday. Luckily both hits were home runs. Kipnis gave the Indians a four run lead thanks to his three-run homer in the first inning. Kipnis also added a solo home run in the fifth inning to give Cleveland some more margin for error in their victory over Texas. A 2-2 outing with two walks is what the Indians second baseman finished with. This is quite the little run that Kipnis has been as of late, slashing .467/.556/.1.133 with an OPS of 1.689 over his last four games. This includes one double, three home runs and 10 runs driven in. This is a great sign for Kipnis as his season got off to quite the rough start.

Jordan Luplow also made some contributions in the Cleveland victory. Luplow went 2-4 and drove in three runs in the contest. Luplow finished with the second-most RBI for the Tribe in their victory.

Some other notable performances at the plate include Francisco Lindor, Oscar Mercado and Carlos Santana all going 2-4. Mercado is the only one of the three to not score. Lindor and Santana actually both scored twice.

The only two Indians hitters to not record a hit were Jake Bauers and Leonys Martin. Bauers did score a run due to reaching on a walk, but Martin did not reach base Wednesday.

With back-to-back wins Cleveland has secured at least a split in their four game series in Texas. This is the fifth straight series that finds the Tribe at least splitting a series. Three of the previous five series have resulted in Cleveland wins which is definitely encouraging as they are still in the playoff hunt.

The final game of the series takes place at 2:05 P.M. Thursday with the Indians getting a chance to take three of four against the Rangers.
