Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry has graded out as a Top 5 player in the divsion according to Pro Football Focus.
Opinions on Jarvis Landry vary drastically from person to person. The Cleveland Browns receiver is viewed either as a valuable asset or a replaceable player by some. Even though Landry did not put up the numbers some expected in 2018, he was still a productive player for the Browns.
Jarvis Landry finished 2018 with 81 receptions for 976 yards and four touchdowns. Landry also added 60 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown. Of course 51 of those yards came on one carry. While Landry had a career-low in the receptions department, his yards per catch were the second-highest of his career. An often used criticism of Landry is that his yards per catch are less than 10 yards, while it is true in previous years it is not accurate when analyzing his 2018 campaign. Landry averaged 12 yards per reception, only second to the 12.1 yards per reception in 2016.
Jarvis Landry led the Browns in receptions and yards and finished second to Antonio Callaway in receiving touchdowns. Landry also led Cleveland in receptions per game and yards per game. Pro Football Focus obviously looked at Jarvis Landry’s first season in Cleveland and deemed it good enough to be a Top 5 player in the division at the position.
Jarvis Landry finished with a grade of 74.7 which qualifies as “above average” according to their standards. This grade was good enough for fifth overall in the division behind A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Antonio Brown.
In time the Cleveland Browns will to need another receiver to crack into the Top 5 of this list, having Jarvis Landry make an appearance in what was a building year is a good start.
