Jarvis Landry not expected to need surgery

The Cleveland Browns have stated that Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry is not expected to need surgery for his hip injury.

There was the possibility that both of the Cleveland Browns starting wide receivers would need offseason surgery. Odell Beckham Jr. underwent surgery Tuesday for his core muscle injury. Mary Kay Cabot reported that Jarvis Landry is not expected to need surgery for his ongoing hip issue. Cabot was also informed that Jarvis Landry will be participating in the Pro Bowl on January 26th.

Like Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry dealt with his injury for the entirety of the season. That still did not stop Landry from having a productive season. Landry finished 2019 with 83 reactions for 1,174 yards and six touchdowns. This was a career-high in receiving yards for Landry on his second-lowest reception total for a season. Although, Jarvis Landry also finished with a carer-high 14.1 yards per reception. This is two yards more than his previous career-high.

Like Beckham, Landry’s status with the team could be up in the air. Landry will make a lot of money over the next three years. $13 million in 2020, $12.5 million in 2021 and $14.3 million in 2022. The change in front office may not want to justify paying the Browns second wide receiver that much money. Many analysts have stated something similar when it comes to Landry and his contract.
