The Cleveland Indians return home from their road trip to take on the Detroit Tigers in a three game series for the second time in a week.
The Cleveland Indians have either won or split their past five series. This includes the sweep of the Detroit Tigers last weekend. Cleveland will host Detroit for a three game series. Fresh off a four game split with the Texas Rangers, the Tribe will look to get back to winning a series this weekend.
Trevor Bauer gets the nod Friday and will look for a repeat performance of his first career complete game shutout on Sunday. Bauer was absolutely dominant on the mound and is in a good position pitch in a similar manner. Although a more formidable lineup may be waiting for Bauer. Miguel Cabrera was noticeably absent last Sunday and should be present in Detroit’s lineup Friday.
Mike Clevinger was originally listed as the starter for Saturday’s game but he may have a stint on the injured list in his future. Clevinger rolled his ankle in his long awaited return from the injured list. While he did continue to pitch, a precautionary IL stint may be in the cards.
Zach Plesac will start the series finale Sunday. Plesac pitched well in his last start in Texas and is turning into quite the reliable arm in the Indians rotation. If Detroit goes with a similar strategy of holding Miguel Cabrera out of their lineup Sunday, Plesac could be in for a good day on the mound.
The Indians are averaging seven runs per game over their last seven games while only surrendering 3.4 runs per game. Cleveland is doubling up their opponents over the past week and that is thanks to three games scoring double-digit runs. While another 10+ run game may not happen, the fact that Cleveland has been scoring with relative ease and keeping their opponents in check bodes well for the Tribe.
