The Cleveland Indians have sent three pitchers down to Minor League camp, Sam Hentges, Triston McKenzie, and Jean Carlos Meija.
The Cleveland Indians were going to have to make some roster moves sooner or later and they have decided to start with three pitchers. Sam Hentges, Triston McKenzie, and Jean Carlos Mejia are now in Minor League camp per MLB.com’s Mandy Bell.
Hentges, McKenize, and Mejia are now with the Akron RubberDucks.
These three moves are not all that surprising. Cleveland has plenty of options available to them at the Major League level and they need to sort them out. Add in the fact that Hentges and Mejia have not pitched all that well in games in Arizona it was only a matter of time.
Sam Hentges 3 G 2.2 IP 13.50 ERA 3.000 WHIP 5 ER 4 H 3 BB 2 K
Jean Carlos Mejia 4 G 5 IP 5.40 ERA 1.400 WHIP 3 ER 4 H 1 HR 3 BB 7 K
Triston McKenzie has not pitched this spring and is working his way back from injuries which sidelined him for all of 2019.
Jean Carlos Mejia’s last outing did not go well. Mejia was part of the bullpen imposing in Saturday’s loss to the Cubs.
The Indians will continue to sort out their rotation and bullpen as Spring Training continues.
