A poll was ran and 56 percent of Cleveland Indians fans want the team to keep Corey Kluber rather than trade the two-time Cy Young Award winner
The longterm future of Corey Kluber in Cleveland has come into question since last season ended. The Indians have engaged in trade discussions with multiple teams in regards to acquiring Kluber. Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Los Angeles (Dodgers) and San Diego have been rumored to be interested in his services.
A poll was ran to gauge the fans interest in sending Corey Kluber elsewhere. After “Yes” took an astounding lead, “No” ultimately prevailed. 56 percent of the 770 votes selected “No”. Funny thing, a reply to this poll claimed this is not a “yes or no question”, but in all actuality that is what it is.
Reasoning for answering with either answer varies by the person voting. There are many who want to ship out Kluber for a handful of prospects which would not help the team at the present time. A trade that realistically would be a poor decision in the short-term. Those in favor of keeping Kluber realize that a trade package worth the value of Kluber is most likely not coming. Rather than sell low on a valuable asset, it is better to hang on to said asset and get the most out of it.
There are concerns about the future of Corey Kluber. This is due to age, injuries and the fact he has become rather susceptible to the home run ball. While these concerns are real, these may also factor into why a team may not want to give up something similar to what the Chicago White Sox got for Chris Sale. A deal that at this point looks like Boston came out on top of. Cleveland fans would be livid if a similar result happened with a trade of Corey Kluber and voting no may have been influenced by that.
