The Cleveland Browns cornerback is eligible to return from injured reserve.
Greedy Williams was placed on injured reserve after suffering an injury in Week 1. Now that four weeks have passed he is not eligible to be activated and return to practice.
This would be a welcome return for Cleveland’s defense. The unit has been a disappointment this season as they were expected to carry a good part of the load early in the season while the team waits for Deshaun Watson to return from suspension. The Browns defensive backfield has been underwhelming so far this season and needs all the help they can get. While the overall numbers do not look bad, it is when plays are made by the opponent. Add this to the weekly coverage busts and it is clear that their defense has not lived up to expectations.
The Browns are about to embark on a tough stretch of opponents which features Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Joe Burrow going into the bye week. While Greedy Williams may not be a shutdown corner he will still boost the talent level of the defense. Seeing improvements in the secondary is an absolute must and the return of Williams should help in that area.
UPDATE
The team has designated Greedy Williams to return from injured reserve.
