Francisco Lindor mentioned in trade rumors

An interesting name popped up in trade rumors before Monday’s deadline, Cleveland Baseball Club shorstop Francisco Lindor.

The fact that Francisco Lindor came up in trade rumors the day before the deadline is hardly surprising. Lindor’s name has been the focus of a possible trade for years and as his free agency comes ever closer the frequency only increases. Mark Feinsand reported Sunday that Lindor’s name has appeared in trade discussions.

Feinsand did add that the expectation is that a trade of Lindor would occur in the offseason and not before Monday’s deadline.

The fact of the matter is that trading Francisco Lindor right now would be a different type of disastrous move. Cleveland is currently jockeying for first place in the division and could be a bat or two away from being a serious contender. It makes more sense to add offensive pieces to this team rather than take them away.

There may come a time when Francisco Lindor is traded, it just does not appear to be happening before the 2020 trade deadline.
