Contenders hoping for Tristan Thompson buyout

Contending teams are still hopeful that a buyout occurs with Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson. Thompson has been relegated to a bench role due to the acquisition of Andre Drummond last week. If Thompson were to be bought out quite a few teams would be interested.

Perhaps the hope is the continued losing causes Thompson to become frustrated. Losing combined with being moved to the bench could become an issue and a desire to leave. While Tristan Thompson has stated he wants to play out the season and the team wants him to remain in Cleveland, eventually losing takes a toll. The Cavaliers are one of the worst teams in the league, even with some quality players.

There is also the fact that Thompson is in his final year of his deal. Coming off the bench will ding his stats quite a bit. That very well could impact his next deal. It is possible that this does not sit well with Thompson as the season goes on. There is only so much that Thompson will be able to do coming off the bench, especially in losing efforts. A time may come where Thompson realizes he may be able to set himself up for a larger payday playing elsewhere and request a buyout. Even though clients of Klutch Sports typically don’t take buyouts.

Tristan Thompson is one of the best rebounders in the league, especially on the offensive end of the floor. Thompson’s ability to keep possessions alive can make the difference between winning and losing a game. This is crucial come playoff time, as this could make the difference between advancing or going home.
