Cleveland shut out by White Sox 1-0

The Cleveland Baseball Club was unable to score a run despite having two more hits than the Chicago White Sox.

Even though the Cleveland Baseball Club totaled six hits to Chicago’s four, it was the White Sox who came out victorious in a 1-0 final score. The only run of the game came on a Luis Robert home run in the 5th inning.

It was a strikeout-fest at Progressive Field as both teams combined to strike out 27 times while failing to record a walk. Cleveland’s pitching staff recorded 11 strikeouts while the White Sox tallied 16.

Despite the loss and offensive ineptitude, there was a bright spot in this game, the return of Shane Bieber. Bieber threw three perfect inning before being relieved for Trevor Stephan in the 4th.

Another bright spot is that Anthony Gose struck out three batters in 1.1 innings without allowing a base runner. Perhaps the conversion from outfield to reliever may be working.

The series continues Saturday night at 7:15 with Cleveland looking to further evaluate their talent on the roster with the White Sox already clinching the division.
