The Cleveland Baseball Club will look for a better result this time around as they finish up their series with the Kansas City Royals.
The home opener did not go as planned for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they were shut out 3-0 by the Kansas City Royals. Cleveland will have their chance for revenge Wednesday afternoon in the second and final game with Kansas City.
It will be the second start of the year for Shane Bieber as he is looking for his first win of the season. Bieber pitched on Opening Day and took the loss up in Detroit after allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. The bright side for Bieber was that otherwise he looked like his normal self compiling 12 strikeouts against the Tigers. A repeat performance could be in the cards for Bieber as he faces a Royals team he has struck out 27 times in 88 at-bats previously. Jorge Soler has struck out 7 times in 12 at-bats while walking 3 times. Salvador Perez has 5 strikeouts in 9 at-bats, but has homered off of Bieber.
Kansas City will start Brad Keller and he has pitched fairly well in his limited time against Cleveland. Kelller has limited Cleveland’s slash line to .198/.266/.237/.503 with only 3 of their 11 hits going for extra-bases, all doubles. Two of Jose Ramirez’ three hits against Keller are doubles (11 at-bats) and Franmil Reyes registered 1 double out of two of his hits in 5 at-bats.
