Cleveland comes up short again in Seattle 7-3

The Cleveland Baseball Club came up short in Seattle yet again.

Baseball can be funny sometimes. For the Cleveland Baseball Club it was a different day and the same result, same score too, a 7-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Cleveland was outhit again by Seattle 8-6 with the Mariners starting pitcher, former Cleveland prospect Justus Sheffield, keeping the lineup in check.

Cleveland’s starter was Triston McKenzie and it was a difficult outing for the young starter. McKenzie only lasted 4.1 innings and gave up five runs on five hits while walking three and striking out six. It was home runs from Mitch Haniger and Dylan Moore which did most of the damage early in the game. This was the third-longest outing of the season for McKenzie and only the second time that he did not walk four batters.

Offensively this game was sort of a nightmare for Cleveland yet again. Cesar Hernandez, Jordan Luplow, Franmil Reyes, Josh Naylor, Amed Rosario, Rene Rivera, and Yu Chang combined to go 0-23 with seven strikeouts. Jose Ramirez, Eddie Rosario, and Harold Ramirez were the only players to get hits in the contest. Jose would go 3-3 with a walk and a run scored. Eddie was 1-3 with a RBI groundout in the 6th. Harold hit his first home run of the season in the 9th.

With two straight losses, Cleveland is now on the brink of losing the series. A win could be in order with Shane Bieber on the mound at 4:10 P.M. Sunday.
