Aaron Civale, Carlos Santana, and Domingo Santana were instrumental in the Cleveland Baseball Club defeating the PIttsburgh Pirates 6-1.
The Cleveland Baseball Club won their second straight game over Pittsburgh and fifth straight overall Wednesday, Carlos Santana is starting to carry his weight offensively and that’s a good thing. For the second consecutive game Santana hit a three-run homer. This time it was not questionable whether or not it was a fair ball.
Santana’s home run gave Cleveland a three run lead in the 6th inning and didn’t look back.
Cleveland would get three more runs thanks to Domingo Santana coming through with a two-out bases loaded double. This would give Cleveland a comfortable 6-0 lead in the 8th inning.
Aaron Civale had an incredible performance on the mound. Civale pitched all 9 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 6. The only run Pittsburgh scored came in the 9th inning when the game was all but over. This was the first career complete game for Aaron Civale.
Civale going all 9 innings gave the bullpen some much needed rest. James Karinchak and Nick WIttgren pitched quite a bit leading into this game and they were unavailable. Now they should be available if they are needed on Thursday when Cleveland looks to complete the sweep.
