Cavs acquire Rayjon Tucker, 2nd round pick

The 23-year old guard and a future second round pick are headed to Cleveland from Utah.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to another trade and this time it is with the Utah Jazz. Cleveland is acquiring guard Rayjon Tucker and a future second round pick in exchange for cash from Utah. Tucker was the G-League Player of the Month in December last season.

As of now, this move seems to be more about the pick than the player. Cleveland can waive Tucker before Sunday and not be on the hook for his $1.5 million salary.

If Cleveland decides to keep Rayjon Tucker it would be more of a depth move. The Cavs have plenty of guards, some that could be moved, and taking a chance on someone like Tucker could be a low-risk move.

Rayjon Tucker appeared in 20 games for the Jazz last season, averaging 3.1 points and 1 rebound on 46.5% shooting from the field.

Update

The Cavs decided to waive Rayjon Tucker on Saturday.

Cleveland would sign Thon Maker to a deal later in the day.
