The Cleveland Cavaliers were unable to continue their winning streak, losing to the Los Angeles Clippers at home by a score of 110-108.
It was only a two-game winning streak for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it came to an end Friday night. Cleveland lost to the Clippers at home despite scoring a season-high 40 points in the 1st quarter.
Cleveland led by 15 after the 1st, but their large lead quickly disappeared. Los Angeles outscored the Cavaliers 33-20 in the 2nd quarter. This resulted in Cleveland’s 15 point lead turning into a two point lead at the half. A 34-23 3rd quarter for the Clippers had Los Angeles leading 92-83 heading into the 4th quarter. The Cavaliers were able to make a game of it, only allowing 15 points in the 4th quarter and scoring 25 points of their own. A last second three-point attempt from Jordan Clarkson did not go in and the Cavaliers lost 110-108 at home.
Kevin Love led the way for Cleveland, scoring 22 points on 8-14 shooting, (4-7 from three-point range) with eight rebounds and one assist.
Jordan Clarkson scored 20 points in the contest, passing Campy Russell for the Cavaliers record for bench points in a season. Clarkson made nine shots on 19 attempts, including a not-so-inspiring 2-10 from deep.
Collin Sexton added 20 points of his own in 31 minutes. Sexton converted nine of 15 shots from the field and two of four three-pointers. Collin Sexton eclipsed 100 three-pointers made on the season and is the 26th NBA rookie to do so while scoring 1,000 points. Sexton also added four rebounds and one assist to his final line.
On his father’s bobblehead night, Larry Nance Jr. scored 14 points with nine rebounds (five offensive), three steals and one assist. This was quite the performance from Nance on a special night for his family.
