The Cleveland Cavaliers were not able to come away with a win as they lost by 15 points to the Washington Wizards.
After snapping their 11-game losing streak in their last game, the Cleveland Cavaliers were not able to turn one win into multiple as they lost to the Washington Wizards 120-105.
A recurring theme popped up in this loss, a lack of scoring in the 3rd quarter. The Cavaliers only managed to score 20 points compared to Washington’s 33. This 13-point differential is almost the entire difference in the game. When Cleveland loses it is usually due to a double-digit deficit in either 3rd or 4th quarters, if not both.
Even 26 points from Collin Sexton was not enough for the Cavaliers to string two wins together. Sexton made all 8 free throws in addition to going 8-16 from the field and 2-4 from deep. Sexton also had 4 assists and 1 rebound with 6 turnovers in the contest.
It was a double-double for Jarrett Allen who finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds, including 3 of the offensive variety. This was the first double-double of the month for Allen after having multiple in April.
The Cavaliers bench really did not do much in the game and that was expected. The combitonn of Mfiondu Kabengele, Darius Garland, Anderson Varejao, Brodric Thomas, and Jeremiah Martin combined for 16 points. Garland, who usually starts, finished with 3 points on one three-pointer in 12 minutes.
Cleveland’s final game of the regular season is Sunday in Brooklyn.
