The Cleveland Cavaliers will begin in-market regional practices on Wednesday and most of the NBA roster will be participating.
The majority of the Cleveland Cavaliers roster will be participating during the in-market regional practices that begin on Wednesday. There are only four players who will no be participating, Tristan Thompson, Matthew Dellavedova, Cedi Osman, and Andre Drummond.
There are several key players that will be present for the practices. Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Larry Nance Jr., Kevin Love, and Kevin Porter Jr. These players working on their chemistry will be beneficial for the team when the next season begins. The Cavaliers need to have these players gelling in order to have a more successful campaign next season.
This could open up opportunities for others on the roster as some are vying for playing time. Players that could carve out roles during this period include Dylan Windler, Dante Exum, and Alfonzo McKinnie. Windler missed his entire rookie season due to an injury and could make an impression on the Cavaliers coaching staff. Exum was acquired midseason in a trade and did have some impressive moments, but injuries were a concern yet again. McKinnie has become an intriguing player that could find his way to a bench role with the Cavs.
This practice period could also provide some of the G-League players a chance to stick around with the Cavaliers if they have an impressive performance. Sir’Dominic Pointer, Marques Bolden, Levi Randolph, and Vincent Edwards all spent time with the Cavs G-League affiliate in Canton. It is possible that they get a chance they otherwise might not have if they play well during this time.
