It took a 40-point fourth quarter, but the Cleveland Cavaliers came out victorious Thursday night in New York. After three quarters the Knicks looked to be fairly in control with the score at 97-85 in New York’s favor. A furious run by the Cavaliers put Cleveland ahead for good and got the Cavaliers their third win since the All-Star break.
Kevin Love led the way for Cleveland with 26 points. Love shot 6-12 from the field, 3-6 from three-point range and made all 11 free throw attempts. This goes without saying but Love was the highest scorer from both teams in the contest. Love was also able to grab eight rebounds, this was the highest total for Cleveland on the evening.
Collin Sexton scored 22 points in his Madison Square Garden debut. Sexton made seven shots on 15 attempts. The highlight of the evening was a layup from Sexton which will end up on his highlight reels for years to come.
Jordan Clarkson continued his excellent play off the bench, scoring 22 points in 29 minutes. Clarkson took 13 shots and made seven of them. Clarkson also made three of eight three-point attempts and five of six shots from the charity stripe.
The best all around performance may have come from Cedi Osman. Osman final stat line was the following: 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal. Osman made an impact in every facet of the game and that is what teams need on a nightly basis.
While the Cavaliers did win it is important to remember that they still possess one of the three-worst records in the league. The Cleveland Cavaliers are still in the mix for the top pick in the draft.
