The Cleveland Baseball Club reliever has been informed by the team he has made the Opening Day roster for the 2021 season.
A familiar face will be in the bullpen for the Cleveland Baseball Club on Opening Day, Bryan Shaw. Shaw returned to the team on a minor league deal this offseason with a chance to make the team. The 33-year old reliever has apparently done enough to earn the trust of manager Terry Francona.
Bryan Shaw is no longer the pitcher he used to be, but there can still be a role for him on the team. While Shaw could be used in some high leverage situations, there are several other players on the roster who should take the bulk of them.
The days which saw Bryan Shaw lead the league and all of baseball in appearances are in the past, but Cleveland thinks they can get the best out of someone who has not quite looked like himself for some time. An increased pitch velocity could be something to monitor as the season progresses.
