The Cleveland Browns have decided to part ways with “The Scottish Hammer”.
The Scottish Hammer era in Cleveland is over. The Browns have decided to waive Jamie Gillan and stick with Dustin Colquitt for the remainder of the season. Colquitt was signed by Cleveland after Gillan landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
A surprise: The #Browns are waiving punter Jamie Gillan, per source.
“The Scottish Hammer” was an all-rookie team pick in 2019 and hadn’t missed a game in three seasons before landing on the COVID list recently. Now, an intriguing name on waivers.

While Jamie Gillan did make the All-Rookie Team in 2019, 2021 has not been particularly kind. Gillan is averaging a career-low 43.9 yards per punt which ranks 31st in the NFL. Gillan’s replacement who was on the street ranks 20th with 45.9.
